National Apprenticeship Week promotes the value of trainee workplace development
National Apprenticeship Week (February 5th to 9th) highlights the importance of trainees to UK businesses.
The theme of this year’s programme is ‘Skills for Life’, which encourages businesses to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals develop the knowledge and skills that lead to a fulfilling career.
Aware of the value that trainees bring to the workplace, CPI EuroMix has two full-time employees that completed an apprenticeship programme: Ashley Smith, a sales representative based at its Beaconsfield site and Luke Hoyle, who works in packed product sales for the company. Both combined ‘live’ on-the-job training with specialist off-site training support.
Stuart Russell and Marc Case, UK commercial managers at CPI EuroMix said: “Ashley and Luke are great assets to the company. They are proof of the value of quality training via an apprenticeship programme that an employee fully supports. The knowledge and skills they acquired during their apprentice course will stand them in good stead throughout their career. We’re delighted to have them on board. “
As well as offering in-house training opportunities, CPI EuroMix supports external apprenticeship schemes by donating silos of quality training mortar to colleges. It has a silo cited at Hertford Regional College, which supplies lime sand training mortar for bricklaying apprentices. CPI EuroMix supplies the same material for the Guild of Bricklayers in support of its regional apprentice competitions. In addition, CPI EuroMix has dry mortar silos based at NHBC-run training hubs in Tamworth and Cambridge.
