CPI’s Wellbeing Strategy has a positive outlook for mental and physical health
CPI EuroMix has affirmed its commitment to employee welfare with the development of a wellbeing strategy designed to enhance colleagues’ physical and mental health for a more positive and productive work environment.
The proactive initiative follows the company becoming a signatory of the Being Well Together (BWT) programme. Set up by the British Safety Council Group, BWT focuses primarily on reducing workplace illness and injury. The charitable enterprise is supported by experts including the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, which helps members identify gaps in their wellbeing strategy.
Tony O’Sullivan, CEO at CPI EuroMix, which has nine dry mix manufacturing sites across the UK, said: “Providing a work environment which fully supports our colleagues’ mental and physical wellbeing is a continual journey. Our fantastic colleagues are at the core of our success, so it is important that they feel supported and valued.”
CPI’s wellbeing strategy is constructed around four pillars: physical; mental and social; financial, and workplace. This holistic approach to physical and mental wellness is seen as intrinsic to companies fostering positive relationships, enabling staff to make more informed decisions, as well as work more productively and creatively.
A government Health and Safety Executive report found that between 2022 and 2023, stress, depression or anxiety accounted for the majority of UK workplace absences due to work-related ill health. It equated to an average of 19.6 days lost per person – more than double the amount conceded to physical injury.
Tony O’Sullivan said the company was looking to build on the programme’s success by introducing further measures to improve employee mental and physical wellbeing.
He said: “There has been fantastic support for the four pillars wellbeing strategy, and we’ve seen some encouraging results in our first-year assessment of the programme. However, we are ambitious to push ahead and further improve to ensure the strategy continues to meet the needs and expectations of our colleagues.”
