CPI Mortars provide aesthetic and protection for stunning beachfront development
CPI EuroMix supplied the high-bond, compressive strength coloured mortar to enhance the façade of a stylish residential scheme, the latest addition to a property portfolio that is helping rejuvenate an historic Kent seaside town.
The £44m Folkestone Residential Seafront Development (FRSD) is as stunning as its seafront location. Situated at the foot of the town’s Leas Lift and Coastal Park and close to the Harbour Arm, the new homes will comprise 60 apartments split across two seven-storey blocks at the east and west end of the sites. They will be joined by 20 interconnecting townhouses and four duplexes.
Folkestone-based contractor, Jenner, has been appointed to deliver the development, which is due for completion later this year. It represents the first phase of Kent businessman Sir Roger De Haan’s masterplan to build 1,000 homes in the area. A key element of the FRSD’s design is its striking façade, which is created from white-glazed bricks imported from La Paloma in Spain. To preserve the stunning aesthetic and protect the building against the extreme elements its beachfront location exposes it to, a specialist white mortar was required. Having cultivated a successful long-standing working relationship with Jenner and with a reputation for producing high-performance mortars to suit a range of colours and applications, CPI EuroMix was selected to supply the FRSD solution.
CPI EuroMix provided three silos of white mortar and one silo of natural mortar for the FRSD’s façade. The mortar will not only enhance the frontage’s shade and texture, it will provide the strength and durability to ensure the development’s most visible aspect will remain its impressive look by resisting the heavy winds and sea salt spray that can damage seaside properties in the long-term.
The Folkestone Residential Seafront Development provides further evidence of CPI EuroMix’s capability to manufacture mortars that meet the precise requirements of brickwork design; its silo mixing stations producing a readily-made solution as and when required. This system minimises waste due to the controlled environment of the silos, ensuring longevity. Delivered to site, the silos produce a perfectly mixed mortar accredited to BS EN ISO 9001:2015, the industry standard accreditation for quality control.
The Folkestone Residential Seafront Development’s stunning façade, which CPI EuroMix’s mortars have helped to create, is emblematic of the reenergising that will see Folkestone returned to one of Kent’s most desirable locations for residents and visitors alike.
