CPI ‘Grand Brix’ provides electric accompaniment to Super Trowel Grand Final
Silos, slushies and a magnificent mini-car challenge ensured dry mortar specialists CPI EuroMix kept crowds revved up for the 2026 Super Trowel Grand Final.
As well as being the official mortar sponsor of the annual contest to find the UK’s best and fastest bricklayer, CPI’s mix of four-wheeled thrills and sweet-flavoured sustenance was among the headline side shows during the two-day Super Trowel event, which attracted thousands of rapt spectators to Hertfordshire County Ground.
First held in 2023, this year’s Super Trowel was hailed as ‘the biggest and best yet’, drawing combatants from the U.S. and Australia, as well as a host of UK brickies who had battled through regional heats to reach the final.
Stuart Russell, Head of Commercial at CPI, which has been Super Trowel’s official mortar sponsor since its inception, said: “It’s been an unbelievable privilege to be part of this event and watch it explode into what it is today. Super Trowel has become far more than just a competition; it’s given apprentices in regional colleges a standard to shoot for, veteran bricklayers a stage to showcase world-class precision, and the entire construction community a proper place to gather, connect, and take pride in the trade.”
Streams of visitors made their way to CPI’s boldly branded gazebo throughout the blazingly hot finals weekend. The stand’s star attraction was a ‘Mortar Racing Grand Brix’, where the aim of the game was to remotely control a model 4×4 Base Camp car around a foam brick maze in the fastest time. The winning racer completed the inches-high circuit in an impressive 11.10 seconds.
A CPI-branded slushy machine helped visitors counter the weekend’s sizzling temperatures, while two giant silos positioned beside the stand provided the premium mortar for Super Trowel’s super-skilled finalists.
This year’s winner of Super Trowel’s main ‘Pro-Competition’ title was Dale Wherton, who laid an astonishing 837 bricks in one hour. Brickie champions were also heralded in a ‘Masters’ category, and a junior contest held over a shorter 30-minute laying time. In addition, prizes were awarded to ‘Hardest Hod’ carrier, and new to 2026, the Strongest Builder.
Stuart Russell said Super Trowel offered an experience like few others. “If you weren’t there, you missed something special. You can talk about high standards in construction all day long, but watching the UK’s finest brickies go head-to-head against the clock, with thousands of eyes watching every joint and line, is a whole different level.
“For us, having CPI mortar under every wall built wasn’t just a sponsorship; it was a privilege to support the best in the business for another year running.
