CPI DELIVERS THE GOODS ON LANDMARK MANCHESTER PROJECT
Products Supplied:Silo Mixing Station
CPI EuroMix once again provided a quality mortar solution for an apartment block within one of the biggest contracts outside of the capital, Middlewood Locks, Manchester.
Located adjacent to Salford Central railway station Middlewood Locks, Manchester is a new waterside neighbourhood for both living and working. Accentuating a stunning waterfront setting, the development unites community spirit with the buzz of a bustling city, offering a welcomed destination for work and play in the heart of Greater Manchester.
CPI EuroMix supplied 1060 tonnes of its market-leading mortar to Phase 1 of the development and 639 tonnes to Phase 2. The presence of CPI’s mortar enabled contractor, Cara Brickwork – a division of Cara Group – to erect the apartment blocks within the New Maker Yards neighbourhood efficiently and sustainably, hitting the mark on quality.
To achieve the natural and light charcoal shaded mortar across Phase 2, CPI employed the latest spectrometer technology and software. CPI’s colour design studio used on-site scanning to match the colour mortar to the required design, ensuring the apartment blocks complemented the surrounding environment.
CPI’s silo mixing stations can hold up to 35 tonnes of dry mortar, producing a readily made solution at the flick of a switch. The system minimises waste as well as maintaining the mix and colours, which helps to reduce the environmental impact of projects during construction. Delivered to site, the siloes produce a perfectly mixed mortar accredited to industry standard, BS EN ISO 9001:2000, the industry standard for quality control. Able to offer high grade mortar alongside its exact premixing silo mixing stations, CPI EuroMix ensures that projects benefit from quality mortars with high bond and compressive strength, durability and colour.
Neil Allen from Cara Brickwork said: “We were very impressed with the service and quality of CPI’s mortar on this project and several other schemes. Dan and the guys at the Irlam depot have always accommodated to our needs, especially coming out of the Covid lockdown period when Cara returned to site and needed deliveries of mortar. The Middlewood scheme is an iconic development in the North of England with Phase 1 looking stunning. With Phase 2 well under way along with Phase 3 & 4 to still be developed, it looks like we will be here for a long time.”
The presence of CPI EuroMix’s quality mortar ensured the New Maker Yards project within Middlewood Locks, Manchester ran smoothly and led to the creation of a destination that will soon become an architectural focal point of its surrounding community.

EuroMix is a range of mortars, renders and screeds, factory produced using dried sand, cement, lime if required, and other additives, delivered to site in a silo complete with mixing equipment. When delivered, the silo contains 16 tonnes of dry material, which produces about 10m³ of mortar. It can hold up to 35 tonnes when refilled by tanker.
Once power and water supplies are connected, a constant supply of high quality mortar or render is available at the push of a button. Operating from nine sites throughout the UK the company provides a productive, efficient and cost effective solution to all construction site mortar and render requirements and the company’s distinctive red and white EuroMix silos have become a familiar feature on many building sites throughout the country.
