Aesthetic designs for countryside crematorium
CPI provided an attractive finish to a crematorium building situated in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.
A total of 140 tonnes of mortar, supplied in two colours, was provided for the new-build Hambleton Crematorium in Maple Park, Thirsk. Commissioned by Hambleton District Council in conjunction with CDS Group, the crematorium accommodates a flexible multi-faith hall for approximately 125 people. Its associated facilities include a staff-specific building to accommodate staff. There are waiting areas that adjoin the main service hall building, whilst a separate function space has been created for a café and the hosting of community events.
A brickwork finish that was in keeping with the rural surroundings whilst being sensitive to the nature of events being held at the crematorium was crucial to its aesthetic. With the capability to design and manufacture mortars to meet a wide range of colours and finishes, CPI EuroMix was the ideal choice to meet the architect’s precise specifications. Best-in-class product is not all CPI EuroMix has to offer. The company’s silos and application equipment speed-up production times, ensuring its bespoke-designed mortars are delivered to site in line with a client’s project requirements. CPI EuroMix has also earned industry plaudits for its exceptional level of customer service support for specifiers in relation to product choice, colour matching or finish requirements.
As is consistent with its full-service provision, CPI EuroMix delivered its siloed coloured mortars fully mixed and ready for installation to Hambleton Crematorium. This meant contractor Marlborough Brickwork, on behalf of Willmott Dixon, was able to start work on the building’s attractive brickwork finish without delay.
Once installed, CPI’s high-performance mortars were not only essential to the newly-built Hambleton Crematorium’s structural stability, their beautifully nuanced shades achieved the desired colour blend with the brickwork. In doing so, it created a seamless and pleasing visual effect that was most appropriate for a very special building.
